A Taste of Kenya, A Toast to Giving: Canadian Fundraiser Raises CAD $120,000 for Seniors Community Center

On June 14, 2025, friends and supporters of Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) in Canada came together for a vibrant afternoon of purpose and celebration at an unforgettable fundraising event themed “A Taste of Kenya, A Toast to Giving.” Organized by the Friends of MIC in Canada, the gathering had one clear mission: to help bring to life the Seniors Community Center in Bula Pesa, Isiolo County, Kenya.

The event was a joyful fusion of music, dance, culture, and compassion. Guests enjoyed lively performances and heartfelt storytelling that highlighted MIC’s impact on the ground. Beyond the festivities, however, the afternoon carried a powerful message, that every senior deserves to age with dignity, care, and a sense of belonging.

“Our elders have paved the way for us. Now it is our turn to honor them,” said Mr. Ahmed Jibril, President and Founder of Mama Ibado Charity. “This center will be a home where seniors are seen, valued, and celebrated; and your support today brings us one step closer to that reality.”

The generosity in the room was extraordinary. Through ticket sales, donations, pledges, and raffles, the event raised an impressive CAD $120,000 to support the construction of the Seniors Community Center. These funds will go directly toward building essential facilities; from healthcare and nutrition units to social halls, all designed to improve the quality of life for hundreds of vulnerable seniors in Isiolo.

Mama Ibado Charity extends its deepest gratitude to the Friends of MIC in Canada and everyone who made the event a success.
