Alfred Shisundi

At 72, Alfred Shisundi has found both refuge and hardship in Mudiri, Kakamega. He arrived in 2015 with little more than hope, taking up work as a security guard at a nursery school. Behind him lay a past marked by loss; the death of both parents and the seizure of his family’s land, leaving him with nowhere else to call home.

Life in Kakamega was not easy. Work as a guard provided only modest earnings, and when the job eventually ended, survival became an uphill battle. Shisundi often found himself walking long distances into town in search of food, sometimes coming back with nothing more than a small packet of flour and nothing at all.

Everything changed when he crossed paths with Mama Ibado Charity. The organization began providing him with essential food supplies, including rice, flour, cooking oil, salt, and other household staples. For Shisundi, this support is more than just sustenance; it’s dignity, security, and relief from the daily uncertainty of where his next meal would come from.

Now unemployed and too frail to work, he relies entirely on the assistance he receives. The charity’s continued support means he can face each day without the fear of going hungry.

As he reflects on his journey, Shisundi’s voice carries both gratitude and hope. Mama Ibado Charity has become his sole source of help, and his wish is simple, that they continue to stand by him in his twilight years.
