Amina Juma Saleh

Amina Juma Saleh was born in Amalemba, Majengo, into a large family of 11 children. Despite her eagerness to learn, her education ended at Standard 7. Raised by a struggling single mother who acted as both father and mother, the family lacked the funds to educate all the children. While two siblings were lucky enough to proceed, Amina stayed home to assist her mother with petty trade.

Amina never married and never had biological children of her own. Instead, her life became one of selfless service to others. She dedicated her years to raising the children of her relatives, including orphans and those with special needs. Currently, she is the sole guardian of her late sister’s 48-year-old disabled daughter.

Life eventually became overwhelming. With all her siblings deceased, Amina found herself elderly, sick, and jobless, with a disabled dependent to feed. Securing food became a daily crisis, and her health deteriorated rapidly due to a lack of medical care.

Her situation changed when concerned villagers pointed her out to the Mama Ibado Charity (MIC) team, explaining her inability to fend for herself. She began receiving food hampers containing essentials like flour, rice, milk, and cooking oil, which lifted the burden of hunger.

However, the benefits extend far beyond the kitchen. Amina suffered from severe pain in her legs, waist, and chest, which made bending down or working impossible. Through the program's health initiative, she now visits the clinic every Thursday for a check-up and treatment. This consistent medical care has restored her strength, allowing her to perform household chores again.

Amina is profoundly grateful to God and the donors for the support that keeps her household running. She remains in desperate need of this assistance because she is the last surviving member of her siblings, has no source of income, and carries the heavy responsibility of caring for a disabled adult while managing her own frail health.
