Awinja Fanisi Nyamanga has lived a life marked by hardship and profound loss, yet she continues to hold onto an unwavering sense of gratitude. Born to poor, uneducated parents, she grew up surrounded by a large family, most of whom she has tragically outlived. “Most of them died,” she recalls with a somber tone. “We were only left the two of us, my brother and I.” The family home, left to her and her sibling, now stands as a testament to the life she has endured.
Her own journey was no less challenging. After getting married, she lost her husband and, heartbreakingly, three of her five children.
