Awinja Fanisi Nyamanga

Awinja Fanisi Nyamanga has lived a life marked by hardship and profound loss, yet she continues to hold onto an unwavering sense of gratitude. Born to poor, uneducated parents, she grew up surrounded by a large family, most of whom she has tragically outlived. “Most of them died,” she recalls with a somber tone. “We were only left the two of us, my brother and I.” The family home, left to her and her sibling, now stands as a testament to the life she has endured.

Her own journey was no less challenging. After getting married, she lost her husband and, heartbreakingly, three of her five children.

To survive, Fanisi turned to small-scale business, selling clothes and vegetables. It was a difficult but necessary hustle that provided for her and her family. However, a severe illness not only robbed her of her health but also of all her savings. The vibrant seller was now a frail woman, with no income and no one to lean on.

But just when her future seemed bleak, a helping hand appeared in the name of Mama Ibado Charity, and Fanisi began receiving food and health support from. "Every month, Mama Ibado Charity provides me with food, and each week I attend their health clinics, which have been of great help, her face lighting up with a rare smile. "I am truly grateful for the support I get."

The assistance has been a lifeline, both physically and emotionally. "If it wasn't for them, I would have died," Fanisi states plainly, her gratitude evident in every word. She speaks of feeling healthier and more at peace, a stark contrast to her earlier life. "Now, I feel fine," she says. "They help me a lot. Even today, they still help me."
