Berneta Musina Musambai

Berneta Musina Musambai lives in a small three-roomed semi-permanent house in the village of Moranga Isaha. Her physical health is weak, and she cannot walk well.

She was born in 1949 as one of four children in her family. Two of her siblings passed away when she was young, leaving only two children in the home.

She did not go to school because her parents died when she was a young child. Without anyone to pay for school fees, she never had the chance to learn in a classroom.

Because she did not go to school, she could not find a good job later in life. She had to do hard manual work like weeding farms for other people just to get money for food.

When she got married, life remained very difficult for her and her family. She did odd jobs and farmed fields to raise her children, and sometimes the family went to sleep on an empty stomach.

Providing daily meals for the family was an immense daily battle. With no steady income, they constantly worried about their next meal and frequently endured days of complete hunger.

Her children faced severe educational interruptions due to extreme poverty. They could only attend local village schools up to low primary levels because there was never enough money to pay for their school fees.

Her son later told her about the Mama Ibado Charity and helped her find the office. Representatives from the charity visited her home to see her struggles and enrolled her in the senior food program.

Through this program, she now receives food supplies like maize flour, sugar, tea leaves, salt, and rice delivered regularly.

"Life was once a daily worry of empty stomachs and hard struggle, but now we no longer sleep hungry, and I have less stress about where our food will come from."

Berneta still needs help because she is old, disabled, and unable to work to support herself.
