Halima Nguzo

Halima was born into a large family of ten children in Isiolo. Her father worked as a tailor, providing for the family by making clothes. From a young age, Halima and her siblings learned the value of hard work and responsibility. Her father taught them the craft of tailoring, a skill that would later become vital in sustaining their family.

Tragically, Halima’s mother passed away when she was in Class 3. This loss forced the siblings to support one another and shoulder responsibilities beyond their years. Despite the challenges, Halima embraced the lessons her father had imparted and took on the role of tailoring to help provide for her brothers and sisters. As Halima grew older, she married and began raising her own children, continuing to use tailoring as a means of supporting her family. She also engaged in small jobs in Isiolo to supplement her income. Through perseverance and dedication, she managed to navigate the difficulties of life, but the struggles of hunger and health challenges persisted.

Halima’s journey took a significant turn when she met Ahmed, the President of Mama Ibado Charity. At the time, he was seeking someone to care for one of the organization’s beneficiaries. Halima accepted the role, providing care with compassion, though the beneficiary sadly passed away. Following this experience, Halima returned to the Mama Ibado Charity offices and was enrolled as a beneficiary herself.

Since becoming a beneficiary, Halima has received consistent support from Mama Ibado Charity. This includes regular food supplies, which have ensured that she and her family no longer experience hunger. She also receives essential medication, including treatment for high blood pressure, which had previously caused an undetected stroke. During her illness, the organization provided continuous support, helping her recover fully and regain her health. Halima emphasizes that the support she has received has had a transformative effect on her life. The assistance extends beyond food and medicine, encompassing care, guidance, and a sense of security for her and her family. She expresses deep gratitude to Mama Ibado Charity and to everyone who supports the organization, acknowledging that their contributions are crucial in enabling the charity to continue its work.
