Hawo Gababa

Hawo Gababa, a mother from Isiolo County, has spent much of her life caring for her family under difficult circumstances. Once, she worked tirelessly at the local market, trying to earn a living and support her household. She sold goods, hoping to make enough to feed her family, but life had other plans. Her business eventually failed, leaving her without income and unsure how she would survive.

After returning home, Hawo faced the harsh reality that she could no longer sustain herself. The days were long and uncertain, and the worry of not being able to provide for herself or her family weighed heavily on her. Her son, Abdi, remembers how stressful those times were: “We didn’t know how to get by. My mother struggled to feed herself and stay healthy.” Hope arrived when a friend took Hawo to the offices of Mama Ibado Charity, guiding her through the process of becoming a beneficiary. From that moment, her life began to change. The charity welcomed her into their Seniors Feeding Program, providing regular support that has made a significant difference.

Today, Hawo receives essential food items every month, including cooking oil, milk, tea leaves, sugar, salt, maize flour, wheat flour, and other necessities. These provisions have brought her relief, nutrition, and strength. “The food I receive really helps me,” she says with gratitude. “It gives me energy to take care of myself and move around the neighborhood.”

Mama Ibado Charity has also helped Hawo maintain her health. Regular check-ups at the weekly clinic, access to medication, and ongoing care ensure that she can manage her wellbeing and live with dignity. Her son Abdi expresses the impact this support has had on their lives: “Many seniors in our community are happy because of the support they receive. It has given my mother hope and peace of mind.”
