Kassam Osman

Kassam Osman was born in Meru but later moved to Isiolo, where he has spent most of his life and raised his three children.

In his younger years, Kassam built a career as a truck driver, transporting goods across East Africa. His work took him across borders to countries such as Sudan and Congo, spending weeks at a time on the road. This demanding job required endurance, skill, and a deep knowledge of the routes and terrains he travelled. From 1987 until 1993, Kassam committed himself to this work, ensuring goods reached their destinations safely and on time.

When his years of driving came to an end, Kassam returned to Isiolo to begin a new chapter. However, life took an unexpected turn when his health started to deteriorate. He fell seriously ill and was admitted to the hospital for an extended period. Doctors diagnosed him with severe stomach problems, which were later linked to drinking borehole water during his years of work. This illness weakened him, making it impossible to continue working and leaving him unable to meet the daily needs of his children.

The loss of income and the mounting health challenges placed immense strain on Kassam and his family. With no stable source of support, daily life became a struggle. It was during this difficult period that Kassam met Mama Ibado Charity. Recognizing his need, Mama Ibado Charity stepped in to ensure his most urgent requirements were met. Since then, we have provided him with monthly food packages, which include essentials such as flour, rice, sugar, cooking oil, and other household necessities. This ongoing support has eased the burden on his family and given him the stability to focus on his health and wellbeing.

Today, Kassam continues to live in Isiolo with his children. He remains grateful for the assistance he receives, which allows him to live with dignity and provide for his family despite the challenges. His journey reminds us that behind every act of support is a life changed — a family sustained, and hope restored.
