Mwanaimani Chisambilo Songore

Mwanaimani Chisambilo’s life has been a testament to endurance. Raised in the village of Mwironje, Kakamega, she was one of five siblings. But over time, loss became a recurring chapter in her story. Three of her siblings passed away, followed by the death of her father shortly after she got married. Her mother passed not long after, and her only surviving brother remained behind in their ancestral home.

Marriage brought new responsibilities, but happiness was fleeting. Mwanaimani's husband died, leaving her to raise their seven children alone. She did all she could to care for them, but even then, fate was unkind, three of her children passed away. Today, the four remaining children are adults living independently, and she finds herself alone once again.

To survive, Mwanaimani began selling charcoal. It was grueling work, but it kept her going, until age and pain in her legs made the labor unbearable. That’s when hope returned in the form of Mama Ibado Charity.

Thanks to the organization’s support, Mwanaimani now receives regular food supplies and access to healthcare. “I’m able to eat, drink, and get the medical attention I need because of Mama Ibado Charity,” she says.

Her gratitude extends to everyone who supports the charity’s mission. Their generosity, she believes, has given people like her a second chance at dignity and peace in their later years.
