Rajabu Asha Omari

Rajabu Asha Omari was born in 1945 in Idakho, Mbale Vihiga County. She currently resides in Mulaha B, Lutonyi, in Kakamega County within a household of ten members.

As a child, she had the opportunity to attend school, but her education ended at Standard Four because her parents lacked the resources to continue paying for her studies due to poverty. Following her school years, she remained at home to assist with farming until she reached the age of marriage and moved to Lutonyi, Kakamega.

Her life at home was marked by significant challenges; she gave birth to thirteen children, but almost all of them passed away, including the son who had remained to look after her. Her surviving daughters are all married and live far away, facing their own struggles which prevent them from supporting her.

Her husband passed away in 1986, and although she worked hard for years selling tomatoes, onions, and local vegetables at a small stall to feed her family, her health eventually failed her. She began to suffer from poor eyesight, hearing loss, and swollen legs that made walking and working impossible.

Before receiving help, life was a constant battle with hunger, as her business had collapsed and she was left alone with several grandchildren who had to drop out of school because she could not afford their fees.

Her situation changed when a friend noticed her suffering and reported her case to the Mama Ibado Charity. Since joining the program, Rajabu has been receiving essential food supplies, including maize flour, porridge flour, sugar, milk, and soap, which have saved her and the children in her care from starvation.

Beyond the food assistance, she benefits greatly from the healthcare support provided by the organization, which now pays for her Social Health Authority (SHA) insurance.

Rajabu is deeply thankful to Mama Ibado and the team that visited her, praying that God grants them a continued spirit of kindness to help other struggling mothers.

She remains in urgent need of this assistance because her physical disabilities prevent her from working, and she carries a heavy burden of debt and the responsibility of caring for a large household of ten people without any stable income.
