Regina Adome’s life has been a journey of hardship, loss, resilience, and unwavering love for her children. She was blessed with twelve children, but her role as a mother has never been easy. Along the way, tragedy struck when she lost four of them. The pain of losing a child is something no mother should endure, and Regina endured it four times. Still, she pressed on, raising her remaining eight children with strength and determination.
Life grew even harder when her husband passed away. He left behind three children, and Regina suddenly found herself with the responsibility of caring for them as well. Overnight, her family became larger, and her challenges multiplied. She carried the weight of raising so many children on her shoulders, with no one to rely on for help.
Those years were some of the hardest in her life. Feeding the children was a constant struggle. Some days she did not know if there would be enough to eat, yet she tried to hide her worry from them. “When I think of those times, my heart is really crying,” she recalls. Her only lifeline came when a kind woman gave her a small job. The work was hard and the pay was little, but it gave her something to hold on to. Even so, she often doubted whether she could survive. “I didn’t even think I would make it this far,” she admits.
Despite these overwhelming challenges, Regina never gave up on her children’s future. She worked tirelessly, stretching whatever little she had to ensure they were fed and that they went to school. It was never easy. Many times she struggled just to provide a single meal in a day. But through sacrifice and determination, she managed to see them through. About six years ago, Regina’s life began to change. Mama Ibado Charity came into her life at a time when she needed it the most. They found her at home when she was unwell and struggling. After assessing her situation, they welcomed her as a beneficiary. That moment marked the beginning of a new chapter.
From then on, Regina started receiving monthly food support. For a mother who had spent years worrying about her children’s next meal, this was a blessing beyond words. “The food even helps the children who live with me,” she says with gratitude. Knowing that food would come every month lifted a heavy burden from her shoulders and gave her a chance to breathe again.
The support has done more than fill her kitchen. It has restored her hope. “Since becoming a beneficiary, the support has greatly helped me through life’s struggles,” Regina says. For the first time in a long while, she felt that she was not alone. She felt seen, supported, and cared for.
Today, Regina continues to care for her children with the stability that the support provides. Her daily life is still full of responsibilities. She wakes early, prepares meals, ensures the children are cared for, and continues to push forward. But the difference is that she no longer carries her burdens alone.
