Ali Mohamed Faraj

In the bustling slums of Alkareem, Kakamega, lives Ali Mohamed Faraj, from a young age, he knew the weight of poverty. He left school after just class seven to help his family, taking on various odd jobs to make ends meet. 

A turning point came when he obtained a driver's license, which secured him a stable job as a bus driver, a role he held for decades and which provided for his family.

However, in 2017, tragedy struck. Ali was involved in a severe accident that shattered his collarbone and injured his back. The injuries were so debilitating that they forced him to stop working. 

As the sole provider for his wife and children, his inability to work plunged the family into crisis. Without his income, they struggled to afford food and other necessities, relying on the kindness of friends to make ends meet.

Just when hope seemed lost, a lifeline appeared in the form of Mama Ibado Charity. Through the Charity’s feeding and healthcare program, Ali and his family began receiving regular food supplies and much-needed medical support. This assistance has been a pillar of strength during a difficult time.

Ali expressed his deep gratitude for the support, which he says has been life-changing. "The help from Mama Ibado's Charity came to save my life," he says. "As I get older, they are now the only source of livelihood for my family. We are forever grateful."
