Zuhura Idi Mainge, a senior resident of Isiolo, is one of the many elderly individuals whose life has been transformed through the support of Mama Ibado Charity. Before becoming a beneficiary, Zuhura lived in extremely vulnerable conditions without stable access to food, secure housing, or reliable healthcare.

For years, she lived in a small, single-room structure built from iron sheets. The shelter, while offering some protection, was far from adequate. Renting even this modest space was a monthly challenge, adding to the financial and emotional strain she faced.

Food insecurity was another major concern. There were periods when Zuhura would go without meals entirely. With no steady income or external support, every day was a test of endurance and survival.

When Zuhura was enrolled in Mama Ibado Charity’s senior support program, the change in her life was both immediate and lasting. She began receiving monthly food packages that included essential staples such as maize flour, wheat flour, rice, sugar, and cooking oil among other things. This consistent provision of food not only improved her nutrition but also brought peace of mind, something she hadn’t experienced in years.

Her life took a significant turn when Mama Ibado Charity built her a permanent home on a small piece of land left to her by her late husband. The new house provided the safety, comfort, and dignity she had long been without. With a roof over her head that she could call her own, Zuhura no longer had to worry about rent, eviction, or the insecurity of a temporary shelter.

In addition to food and shelter, the charity continued to stand by her when she needed it most. Following a minor accident in which Zuhura sustained a facial injury requiring stitches, Mama Ibado Charity covered all her medical expenses. This ensured she received timely and proper care without the added burden of hospital bills.
Today, Zuhura lives in a safe, secure home and continues to receive monthly food support. With her most urgent needs met, she has regained a sense of stability, dignity, and hope.

Zuhura’s story is a powerful example of the impact holistic care can have on the lives of vulnerable seniors.
