Neema Muhammed Adan was born in the heart of Kibera, Nairobi’s largest informal settlement. After the passing of her father, Neema’s family made the difficult decision to relocate to Isiolo in search of stability. It was here that her mother supported the family by selling mandazi and samosas, using what little she had to provide for her children.
This example of strength left a lasting impression on Neema. As an adult, she followed in her mother’s footsteps, starting a small food business to earn a living. Day after day, she walked from neighborhood to neighborhood, selling the same traditional snacks that once sustained her family.
