Neema Muhammed Adan was born in the heart of Kibera, Nairobi’s largest informal settlement. After the passing of her father, Neema’s family made the difficult decision to relocate to Isiolo in search of stability. It was here that her mother supported the family by selling mandazi and samosas, using what little she had to provide for her children.

This example of strength left a lasting impression on Neema. As an adult, she followed in her mother’s footsteps, starting a small food business to earn a living. Day after day, she walked from neighborhood to neighborhood, selling the same traditional snacks that once sustained her family.

But life grew more difficult. After years of struggling with infertility, Neema’s marriage came to an end. Despite the emotional toll, she continued her business, determined to survive on her own terms. It was during this period of transition that she came across Mama Ibado Charity and everything began to change.

Neema was registered as a beneficiary and began receiving support. Just a year later, a disaster struck. A cooking fire was left unattended, and a strong wind swept through her wooden home, burning it to the ground. The loss was devastating.
Soon after, her health deteriorated.
Neema developed serious heart problems and began experiencing limited mobility. Once independent and hardworking, she could no longer manage her business or move without assistance. The life she had fought to maintain seemed to be slipping away.

That’s when Mama Ibado Charity stepped in not just with short-term help, but with long-term care.
Today, Neema receives monthly food rations that include essential items like rice, maize flour, wheat flour, sugar, and cooking oil among other things. She has also been issued a fully funded medical card that allows her access to consistent healthcare — a lifeline for someone living with chronic illness.

“I’m truly grateful,” Neema shares. “At a time when I had nothing left, Mama Ibado Charity was there. They still are.”
Her story is one of resilience tested by tragedy — and hope restored through compassion. Through continued support, Mama Ibado Charity is helping women like Naima live with dignity, safety, and peace of mind.
